How Chemotherapy Works

Chemotherapy remains a cornerstone of cancer treatment, but how does it actually work? We explore the chemistry behind drugs that kill fast-dividing cells and the side effects that come with them.

21.png
Environmental Exposure

From asbestos to air pollution, we investigate the links between environmental exposures and cancer. How much risk do these pose, and what regulations help mitigate them?

Blood Cancer

These aren’t solid tumors—they’re diseases of the blood and immune system. We break down how they differ from other cancers and what treatments exist.

Molecular Detectives About BG
Molecular Detectives Profile

ABout the founder

Sanskriti Varshney

Driven by her passion to explore subjects beyond the classroom, Sanskriti strives to bridge the gap between complex chemistry and everyday understanding. She created this platform to help others understand the science behind cancer risk factors and treatment innovations, making these vital concepts accessible to everyone regardless of their scientific background. Outside of this platform, she has worked on helping research and development scientists develop alternatives to carcinogenic compounds in spray foam.

A gifted musician with perfect pitch, Sanskriti sings and plays the piano and violin. She has performed in concerts and recitals around the country while serving as the Head Publicity Officer in her school orchestra. She teaches piano lessons and builds music curriculum for students in Uganda through Empower Education, where she also leads the Sponsorship Program, connecting donors with students. Sanskriti is also proud of her research she conducted on the impact of music therapy in the oncology field and has written a research article on it.

Let's Talk

our goal

Here are some things we will cover here

Chemistry of Carcinogens

Break down how everyday chemicals interact with our bodies at the molecular level and potentially trigger cancer development.

Risk Factor Science

Explore the biochemical mechanisms behind common cancer risk factors, from UV radiation and tobacco smoke to dietary compounds and environmental toxins.

Integrative Medicine

Highlight the importance of integrative medicines such as music therapy, including how music therapy can help patients cope and recover from the arduous treatment journey.

Exercise to Recovery

Illuminate how exercise can benefit cancer patients and help throughout various stages, from preventing cancer to treating cancer.

Treatment Chemistry

Decode how chemotherapy works at the biochemical level to combat cancer cells, including the different types, symptoms, and how it can be administered.

Genomic Frontiers

Translate complex genetic and epigenetic research into understandable content about how DNA changes influence cancer risk and treatment response.

Preventive Science

Examine the molecular evidence behind cancer prevention strategies, from antioxidants to lifestyle modifications.

why is it important?

Understanding the chemistry behind cancer transforms abstract health recommendations into meaningful knowledge.

By bridging the gap between laboratory science and everyday life, Molecular Detectives empowers readers to comprehend their own health risks, make evidence-based decisions, and follow the exciting developments in cancer research with greater clarity and hope.
